I have a show coming up (March 4th @ PÄS Gallery in Downtown Fullerton, 6pm) and I've been working really hard to make it awesome. Here are some previews:
Nowhereland Montage Print; 18" x 12"; linoleum print (in progress)
Ninja Convention (detail); 8" x 9"; mixed media on panel
These are some watercolor cutouts I made for my parents. My dad wants to decorate the bar top in his Hawaiian style backyard by layering old postcards, drink coasters, and other Hawaiian/ Tahitian ephemera underneath a clear resin layer. My favorite is the Tahitian girl.
I made this painting for my friends' Liz and Feo's wedding gift. I never got a chance to photograph it until I saw it on their wall the last time I visited them.
Untitled; 10" x 10" (including frame); mixed media on cut paper; 2009?
I don't know why I haven't posted this yet, but here is my public art sculpture. If you look closely, you'll see some Nowhereland characters hidden among the crowd. It was a charity donation that benefitted the All The Arts for All the Kids organization. It was purchased by the city of Fullerton. It now lives in the Fullerton Museum Plaza.
Every couple of weeks I do an art giveaway to my Facebook fans. For this week, I'm giving away this 7" x 5" ninja girl study to whoever can post the funniest or most random quote that the ninja girl is saying. Log on to facebook, find Nowhereland, and post a quote as a comment by Friday, August 27th.
Ninja Girl Study; 7" x 5"; mixed media on paper; 2010
Complete with a tribal tattoo, cod piece, battle scars, and Affliction-style graphics, this brobot finishes the look with an energy drink in hand (energy drink logo to be completed soon).
These ceramic bookends serve two purposes: The first is an example for an 8th grade project I'm teaching my students. The second is to hold up art books in my future studio.
Almost finished with the art studio in my backyard!!! I can't take ALL the credit; my dad comes over to show me how it's done. That's my dog's "play fetch with me" face.
I dusted off the old button machine to make some new sets. These should be available on nowhereland.etsy.com in the near future.
Here is my latest. I've named her Trifina, which is a Greek name meaning "fun". If she were to live in our world, she would be a perky cheerleader in a high school or college in Louisiana.
Trifina, 13" x 11" (including frame), mixed media on paper, 2009
I'm beginning a series of Faun portraits using found frames. I want to bring out the personalities of each faun and make them individuals that people can relate to. The name Gianira is a greek name meaning "nymph of the sea". Erosina is also greek and means "erotic lady".
